Angela Maxwell – Artist Statement
These pieces created for Portals and Pathways are my first works created in a new environment. They incorporate actual portals, combining elements from my old space and from the new.
I have recently made the huge transition from life in an old cottage, with a big garden and a river view, to living in a modern apartment with a balcony overlooking a cityscape. I embraced this move, knowing that it would be an opportunity to reframe my life with new adventures.
I was confident that my artwork would help me make sense of it all. These works represent the reshaping and resettling which come with a move.
